The fundamental course covers instrumentation; specimen preparation; data acquisition; and live demonstration of qualitative phase analysis. It also provides an opportunity to use the latest diffraction software including data mining with the Powder Diffraction File™ (PDF®), phase identification using JADE, and use of the powder diffractometer. Multiple diffractometer vendors provide instruments for laboratory sessions, and present use of analysis software.
