The board has oversight of the strategic development of Subject Communities, Interest Groups, Local Sections and other member networks, monitors activities and services and evaluates plans for improvement and change. It is also accountable, through powers delegated by the Board of Trustees, for the formal governance of member groups and networks as set out in the By-laws.

Member Networks Committee
The purpose of this committee is to ensure there is a dedicated group that understands, and is largely concerned with, the operation of member groups and associated issues, ensuring we have the right mechanisms to empower these groups (whether they are geographic or subject based).
The terms of reference are therefore focussed on related issues of resourcing, support and communications specific to this type of activity. This group differs from the Member Communities Board insofar as it is concerned with operational activities relating to the member groups whilst the MCB is concerned with the strategic development of all our member communities, associated policy and the overall governance of member groups and networks.
